This document is called a decision aid. It is designed to help you decide between treatment options. It is for people who have an abdominal aortic aneurysm (usually called AAA or triple A for short) and who have been asked to think about surgery for it. You can use this decision aid to help you talk to the team of healthcare professionals looking after you. This team is often called the MDT (short for multidisciplinary team), because it includes people from different health professions and specialties.

Your Anesthetic for Vascular Surgery
This leaflet gives information to help you prepare for surgery on one of the large blood vessels in your body. This could be your neck (carotid artery – see blue section), your abdomen (aorta – see pink section) or your legs (femoral artery – see lilac section). It provides information about the different types of anaesthetics which can be used for these operations and what choices you may have.
