Membership Information & Benefits

The Society of Vascular Nurses is a society run by nurses for nurses.  Our individual membership extends throughout the whole of the Great Britain, Ireland, and overseas. We wholeheartedly promote vascular nursing as a specialist area of nursing practice and encourage junior nurses to develop their skills accordingly.

We provide a national network for nurses working in vascular nursing to promote the needs of vascular patients and to encourage nurses to gain the knowledge and skills to fulfil the complex needs of these patients.  This network aims to provide an active forum for educational and professional development and encourages members to provide best practice to patients within their area of work. This may be through local and national study days and conferences which also facilitations networking. Access to bursaries can help your pursuit of courses and educational opportunities. Opportunities to apply join the committee and a full member or secondment is available to all full members.

The society supports vascular nurses and creates an opportunity for them to share experiences and network beyond their locality and to provide mutual support for each other.

The SVN has an affiliation with other societies e.g. Vascular Surgical Society (VSS), Society of Vascular Technologists (SVT) and the British Vascular Foundation (BVF), British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Limb Absence Rehabilitation (BACPAR)  and Amputee Research Forum, and Legs Matter .

Membership also provides you with restricted access to a ‘members only’ section of web site where you will find several resources, including previous copies of newsletters, conference presentations, clinical pathways, examples of policy documents and many other useful resources
